Founded in 2002 after extensive dialogue with men and women working as coffee harvesters in Northeast Brazil, Socially Conscious Coffee is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to providing opportunity to coffee harvesters and their families, the most underserved population in the coffee industry. The mission of Socially Conscious Coffee is to provide education, healthcare, opportunity, and support for the families of coffee harvesters and their neighbors. With Denver-based headquarters and Board of Directors, Socially Conscious Coffee caries out its programs via its registered affiliate in Brazil, Socially Conscious Coffee Brasil. An advisory board on the coffee farms open to local men and women from among the people Socially Conscious Coffee serve ensures that local individuals have a stake in program design and in the long-term success of the organization, while also developing leadership skills. While many initiatives seek to assist coffee farm owners, Socially Conscious Coffee specifically serves coffee harvesters and their families, the most underprivileged people in the coffee industry. All Socially Conscious Coffee programs celebrate local culture, are designed in cooperation with the men, women, and children we serve, and promote local leadership development and environmental stewardship. | ![]() |
